South Texas Vocational Technical Institute in McAllen to Launch Electrical Program

MCALLEN, TX (April 2, 2025)Ancora Education, a leading workforce training and solutions provider, has announced its South Texas Vocational Technical Institute (STVT) campus in McAllen, Texas is adding to its skilled trades offerings with the launch of an Electrical program on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

STVT’s Electrical program prepares students for an entry-level position in the residential and commercial electrical field. The 10-month program, a hybrid between classroom-style education and hands-on learning, is designed to prepare students to be service technicians capable of troubleshooting, servicing and repairing residential and commercial electrical systems, meeting the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) standards.

“With the addition of Electrical, we now offer seven programs in the healthcare and skilled trades categories,” says Vanessa Pardo, Executive Director at STVT McAllen. “We aim to support our growing community by producing skilled workers who can go out to better themselves and our community.”

The program’s director is Emiliana Moreno-Escobar, a Master Electrician with over 16 years’ experience. Moreno-Escobar, who has built her life around the construction community, saw an opportunity for skilled electrical training and is Ancora Education’s first female trades program director.

“Bridging decades of hands-on electrical expertise with educational & technology leadership, I am committed to helping serve the Rio Grande Valley by implementing innovative methodologies in the classroom to transform the electrical trade locally through STVT,” said Moreno-Escobar. “This isn’t just a course—it’s a pathway to empowering the next generation of skilled electricians in our community and bringing change to the region.”

The introduction of McAllen’s electrical program follows the addition of the same program at STVT’s Brownsville campus in October 2024. This brings Ancora Education’s on-site electrical programs count to eight campuses.
